Following KICLA's success in obtaining a $20K grant from the WIRES-Landcare scheme last year, we have been busy allocating the funds as set out in the project budget. About half is earmarked for a large order of native plants from the KI Native Plant Nursery, and these have been allocated following a call to members last year. We are expecting to plant in May this year (2021).

Other funds have been allocated to support a series of community workshops. The first of these is:

'Bushland Weeds Workshop - identifying and controlling weeds after fire'

The fires of last summer encouraged a new suite of weeds to flourish in burnt bushland. The KI Conservation Landowners Association (KICLA), in collaboration with weed experts Chris Brodie (DEW) and Laura Williams (PIRSA), present an evening of information and advice on how identify and tackle weeds that might be making inroads into precious bushland.

Wed March 17, 6.00 - 8.30 pm, at the clubrooms of the Parndana Golf Club, Playford Highway. A small dinner buffet will be available from 6.00 pm, and the workshop will start at 6.30 pm.

Further workshops are planned on the collection and germination of native seed (possibly late March 2021, watch this space).

Collaboration is also planned with Land for Wildlife in KI on (1) phytophthera assessment and treatment, and (2) on wildlife camera installation and analysis of the imagery and data they provide. More details shortly.
